This was a highly anticipated game! We hadn’t been to a BYU game in a long time, and definitely never to an away game. We didn’t get tickets until the day of the game because it was too close to my due date, but since I had no signs of labor at all, we went ahead and got tickets for the game! I was super excited!!
We paid $70 for two tickets! EJ was gonna sit on our laps. We didn’t know where the seats were and were worried that it’ll be in the “nosebleed” sections. No worries, though, the stadium was so small, there is no “nosebleed” section. We were pretty close to the front, near the end zone. It was such a different atmosphere walking to the San Jose stadium. It was the first time I saw a drunk, passed on the streets. And students hanging around smoking and drinking. New for me. But then also, just walking towards the stadium from the parking lot, we were just surrounded by BYU fans. I wanna say at least 50% or more of the stadium were BYU fans! It was almost like a home game for the Cougars.
Us right at the start of the game. And we’d just scored a touchdown. Yay! We thought it was definitely gonna be a winning game. How wrong. How very wrong of us. We were taking a gamble with the weather that night, too. It was supposed to rain. It didn’t really come down until towards the end of the game. EJ was kinda into it at the start. He loved watching the ball get kicked and he thought it was funny how everyone fell down. But he got bored, and we had to take out the iPhone to entertain him. After halftime, EJ and Eric went and got some popcorn, and EJ was just shoving his face with popcorn and watching the game again. We were lucky the seats next to us were empty, so EJ could have a seat. When he finished his popcorn, the lady sitting next to us gave him the rest of her popcorn. We were surrounded by BYU fans, which was kinda fun. Cheering them on and complaining about the QB together.
Anyhow, we didn’t stay until the end of the game. We had to wake up early for church the next day, it was starting to rain harder, we were losing, and we didn’t want to get stuck in traffic leaving. It was a good opportunity for us to bring EJ to a BYU game (where we ran into so many people knew from church and school) just too bad we that we lost so badly!

I would’ve liked to have the baby by now, but she’s not coming. I seriously thought she was going to come last Thursday. I was having contractions all night, but they weren’t painful. Eric was a little stressed that she’d come early since he had his certification exam that Saturday. No worries, though, she didn’t come. And she’s still not here. EJ came at exactly 39 weeks. I thought meimei would come early since I’ve been feeling a lot more contractions with her than with EJ. Tomorrow is actually my 39 weeks, so we shall see! I told Eric that if she doesn’t come by this Saturday, we should go to the BYU vs. San Jose State football game. It’s a rare opportunity, so I would love to go to the game! I haven’t been to one in ages! And I have visiting teaching on Sunday. Plus I need to drive some friends to the airport on Monday. So, I guess it’ll be better if she came on Tuesday. My mom’s coming on Tuesday, so that helps too. Haha. What I really don’t want is to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital, but I guess I have no control of when she comes! I just can’t wait for her to come, though. Can’t wait to meet her!

I got my long hair chopped off! In preparation for one month of confinement, I decided to get my hair cut. When I had EJ, I kept my long hair, even though it wasn’t quite as long then. Strict confinement would mean no bathing, especially no hair washing. But I couldn’t take it! I remember taking a shower when my mom went to bed so she wouldn’t know. I’m sure she figured it out since my hair was nice and shiny and clean the whole time. Haha. Anyway, short hair dries faster, so it’ll be easier to maintain. It was a drastic change for me, I hadn’t had short hair in years! But I’m happy with the outcome!

This was Halloween week. Couldn’t help getting this shirt. It’s too adorable!
I love shopping on Etsy 🙂
We bought an annual membership to the Children’s Discovery Museum in downtown San Jose. A great purchase! They used to charge $10 per person, it’s only free if the child is under one. Now they charge $12. The membership is $120 for one year and it covers both parents and all their kids. The more kids you have, the more worth it. Since we only had one, we would have to go at least four times to make our money’s worth. It’s mostly just EJ and I that go, so we need to go at least six times! And we’ve been many, many times. We definitely got our money’s worth.
I took EJ there on Halloween day. It was so quiet!! We also went in the afternoon, so doubly quiet. It’s usually so crowded with kids and there’s always a line to “drive” the ambulance. That’s EJ’s favorite. That day, he could just take his time!
We spent most of our time, over two hours upstairs in the Wonder Cabinet. It’s geared towards children under five. Again, so few kids, no one to fight with him.
Who doesn’t love flying balls. We spent a long time here, just putting those balls in.
EJ playing with sand. It’s amazing how these simple things can occupy them for so long!
EJ making something out of styrofoam and water. This place is amazing!! I’m definitely bringing him here in the afternoons from now on. I love how quiet it is! Mornings definitely more crazy. And since EJ doesn’t nap until later in the afternoon, after lunch would be a perfect time to come.
After the museum, we headed over to Eric’s office for their Halloween party. The museum is right next to EY’s office. Eric’s team at Intel did a wonderful job at putting up this display.
The screen on the computer was the “blue screen of death”. Very nice touch.
I didn’t care about the candy they were handing out. I was there for the food! They had pretty good food last year, and it didn’t disappoint me this year. They had all these desserts, so sad that I could only stick to one, otherwise my blood sugar would go through the roof! EJ fell asleep, it was his nap time, so we hung around while Eric took a conference call. Eric said it’ll take about 30 minutes. I should’ve known better, it took an hour and a half! After his call, we headed home where we were meeting the other neighborhood kids to go trick-or-treating.
It’s so fun to have other church kids that live in our neighborhood. EJ loves playing with them. It was my first time to actually go door-to-door trick-or-treating. EJ did a good job. He didn’t need me to carry him. We were out for an hour and he walked the whole way! It was so cute seeing him collecting candy, he was very considerate! He didn’t just hold out his bucket, he carefully put his bucket down, pushed aside the handle and lifted up for the treats to go in. He learned to say “or treat!” So cute!
Someone’s very awesome Gangnam Style pumpkin! They were even playing the music!
Very eventful day for EJ!
Leave a CommentI hate my kitchen floor! It is linoleum and it probably hasn’t been updated since the 60’s or 70’s. Maybe even earlier, I don’t know. It is so hard to clean. It’s close to a white color and it has these ridges all over. So, dirt gets stuck in those ridges very very easily. It’s also cracked in some places and is stained with pink coloring in some spots. I’ve tried getting those spots out, to no avail. I use the Swiffer wet jet to mop my floor. The pad on the wet jet doesn’t really get into those ridges. I decided I needed to get down on my hands and knees and just scrub the floor! I did that once last year and I guess it was time to do it again. It took me about an hour and a half, over two days to finish scrubbing the floor. The water was very dirty!
I changed the water three times. But now, I’m glad my floor is clean. We’ll see how long it lasts before I have to get scrubbing again!
Surprise Baby Shower!
03 Nov 2012 03:42 pm | Category: Baby, Celebrations, Sharn
My dear friend, Sudie, threw me a surprise baby shower! I was so touched, I was all tearing up! Funny thing was, Eric, who’d known about it for at least a month, totally forgot about it! It was on a Sunday night and Eric had just came home from home teaching. It was one of those Sundays where I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to cook dinner. Eric was about to make us all some noodles when he got a phone call from Felix. Eric and Felix are both serving in the branch presidency, so when Eric told me we had to go somewhere urgently, I thought it was odd. I thought it was some church stuff they had to take care of, so then why would I have to go? Well, I had taken a nap that afternoon and had no make-up on, my hair was just pulled back in a pony tail and I looked terrible! I was just going to go out in my BYU t-shirt and jeans, but then Eric was acting all funny, I thought maybe I should put on a nicer top, even though everything else still looked terrible!
When we got in the car, I asked Eric where we were going, and he said to Joyce’s, who lives a few blocks away from us. By then, I had a feeling something was up. When we got there, I saw a whole bunch of people’s cars and I knew for sure this was a surprise party. When we got in the house, everyone yelled “Surprised!” I was still very surprised, even though I already guessed what was going on! Seriously! I can’t believe Eric totally forgot about it! He was supposed to say we were going to Sudie’s for dinner, then at least I would have dressed better!!
Chris Nye, the awesome baker that he is, made me chocolate cake! A couple of weeks ago, at EJ’s birthday party, he asked me what was my top 3 favorite desserts, and I told him chocolate cake and apple pie, but couldn’t decide the third one. When I had EJ, Chris baked an apple pie for me and brought it to the hospital. I’m so lucky to have friends that cook/bake so well! I decided that my third favorite dessert would be chocolate chip cookies.
Here’s everyone at the party, and all the yummy, delicious food! I was actually pretty hungry by then cos we hadn’t had dinner. I wolfed down the mini corn dogs like nothing, and I usually don’t even eat corn dogs! I don’t really like the corn bread batter, but these mini ones were pretty good. Batter wasn’t thick. (Not sure if batter’s the right word, but you know what I mean).
Sudie made this amazing diaper cake! Or I should say, diaper tricycle! Very impressive. I seriously have talented friends.
Then we played a guessing game. I was blind-folded and had to guess all these baby items. I was awesome, I guessed everything. So we decided Eric should have a crack at it, and he did pretty good, too! We’re ready for you, meimei!! You can come anytime! Haha.
Leave a CommentThis is EJ’s second year going to our combined trunk-or-treat with the local ward. We just went for the candy last year, but this year we decided to decorate our trunk and give out candy! Well, let’s just say our trunk’s decoration is so pathetic, it doesn’t warrant a photo! There were much cooler trunks. All we did was use some fake spider web and called it good. Well, at least we gave out good chocolate!! Made up for our crappy trunk.
EJ actually got two costumes this year. I got him a second hand Spider-Man costume at Kid-to-Kid. Eric thought that was lame, so he went and got DJ Lance Rock for him. Paid full price, too! And guess what, EJ preferred Spider-Man. And the glasses for DJ Lance Rock broke even before EJ wore it. Well, at least we got a photo of EJ in it.
The collar was too high and was scratchy. Well, mommy knows best! Haha. We got good use out that Spider-Man outfit. We wore it three times!
EJ and his bucket all already to collect candy! I got his bucket for 25cents at a garage sale! I’m so proud of my cheap finds. Haha.
We found him sitting down resting. He’d laid out his top picks next to him. Haha.
He even tried out stilts that belonged to the Bishop. Bishop Dorff is so cool. I’m glad we’re neighbors!
This is EJ’s stash from that night. Wow, people give out good chocolate!!! Must tell myself to have self-control and not eat all his chocolate!!!
I love yum cha! A friend posted a photo of him going yum cha on Facebook, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I got my hands on some!! We went to Asian Pearl Restaurant in Fremont. Definitely worth the drive! We usually go to Saigon HK in Sunnyvale, just down the street from where we live. That place is usually so crowded and so cramped! They try to squeeze as many people as possible in there, and it’s always so loud! Asian Pearl is much nicer, thanks to our friends for introducing it to us! And there are so many other restaurants in that complex, I definitely have to go back! 30 min drive for good food is worth it!
This is durian pastry. I was so surprised they had durian. Oh my goodness…. It was sooooooo good!!!! Of course, durian is a very much acquired taste. Only two of us at our table eats it. We had to eat it up fast cos the others couldn’t stand the strong smell. Haha. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water!! Oh, how I love food!
We finally get to use our fancy pumpkin we got at the pumpkin patch. It’s EJ’s first time helping out with the pumpkin carving. We had him help Eric get all the gunk out of the pumpkin. Well, he didn’t like it! Haha! EJ likes being clean, so he probably didn’t like the sliminess of the insides.
It was so funny watching his facial expression! Well, that was the end of it. Eric finished cleaning out the pumpkin and I carved it.
We played around with some stickers while waiting for Eric. I bought those stickers for EJ to decorate his own little pumpkin. Well, he wasn’t interested in decorating the pumpkin. Not one bit!! Our friends took their Nerf guns out for the little kiddos to play with, and EJ was much more interested in that!
Well, those little missile things were more interesting I guess. If you listen carefully, EJ’s saying “one, two, one, go!” Yeah. Donno why he doesn’t count to three! He counts one-two, and then eight-nine-ten. Just skips everything in between!
Anyway, here are the fruits of our labor.
Ours is the one on the end. A very lame looking bat. Haha. Our friends have two cats in their apartment, and even though Eric took two Zyrtec pills, he was still sneezing like crazy. Poor guy, had such a sinus headache after that night. Seems like those allergy pills don’t work for him! Anyway, the light in our pumpkin looks different cos we got a battery operated light in there. It even had the flickering effect of a candle. But I must say, real candles look much better!
After that we had dessert!! Eric tried introducing whipped cream to EJ.
I think that’s gross! EJ didn’t let Eric squirt it in, he turned around before Eric could. Great parenting there!!
Pigs in a blanket. I love those things! So yummy!
BTS cake. Graham cracker on the bottom, butterscotch and then chocolate pudding. Heavenly…
And I made pumpkin rolls. I’m not a fan of pumpkin pie, but usually pumpkin anything else, I love. And I love this recipe! I still have some pumpkin purée, gotta find some other pumpkin recipes to make!
Even though EJ didn’t end up quite involved in the pumpkin carving, I’m glad he had fun with his friend, Ken!
I love it when they play so well together. 🙂
